Laudemus! (Latin for ‘let us praise!’) has been singing cathedral-style choral evensong in Dorset country churches annually since 1991.
During that time we have visited over 65 village churches and a few suburban ones, sung nearly 150 services of choral evensong and had an amazingly good time. There’s a list here of all the places we’ve visited, and you can follow the other links at the top of this page to learn more about us.
Our 2019 tour took in Weymouth, Eype (St Peter’s doubles as an art gallery) Fontmell Magna, the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Cecilia in Blandford Forum (our first Choral Vespers) and Wimborne Minster. 2020 would have been the 30th year Laudemus! had visited Dorset, but Covid-19 put paid to singing anything, let alone celebrating an anniversary. We managed to sing just one service in Wimborne Minster between lockdowns; there is a link to a live stream of that service on our 2021 Tour page.
Please note that, due to the postponement of the end of lockdown by four weeks, the dates given on our 2021 Tour page are no longer correct. We are attempting so re-arrange the tour for a week in August, and discussions are ongoing.
